“SAWA SAWA”

Together We March for Woman’s Spring

“Sawa Sawa” march (in Arabic meaning both together and equally) was initiated and organized by NAWF and Al-Hasnaa Magazine on February 2nd in Beirut, within the framework of the 5th edition of NAWF (1-2 February 2012, Beirut), and is to become a yearly activity that takes place within NAWF’s proceedings, as a constant reminder of the crucial individual role of woman in all Arab societies.

“Sawa Sawa” is a peaceful march that advocates woman’s rights and through which organizers and participants, men and women strive to confirm that THERE IS NO SPRING WITHOUT WOMAN; it is a platform for strongly urging decision makers and higher authorities to listen to the voice of woman and respond to her call as well as demanding an increased involvement of governments in key issues pertaining to the Arab woman including discrimination, social constraints and lack of freedom in decision making.

NAWF Team and the peaceful protestors who marched “Sawa Sawa” have declared it: ”the first step towards realizing the long-standing and current aspirations of Arab Woman”.
