The first Arab to win the Skoll Foundation Social Entrepreneurship Award Soraya Salti is senior vice-president of Middle East/North Africa for Junior Achievement Worldwide, INJAZ al-Arab. She has spent the decade mobilizing the private sector and ministries of education in the Arab world to join forces in creating a new generation of business-minded youth who will become entrepreneurs and employees of choice for corporations. Her efforts have led to a successful private public sector partnership in education reaching more than 900,000 youth, in the region with the world’s highest youth unemployment.
Prior to Junior Achievement, Soraya worked on a Dutch-funded initiative applying Harvard Professor Michael Porter’s model for economic development to the Levant. She won the 2006 Schwab Social Entrepreneur Award for Jordan, and became a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum.
She is a founding board member of the Business Development Center in Jordan and of the Queen Rania Awards for Excellence in Education. As co-chair of the 2011 MENA WEF Entrepreneurship Education Action Group, Salti takes the lead in advancing 21st Century skills in education reform across the Arab World.
Established in 1909, Al Hasnaa accompanied the Arab Woman in her march and covered her evolution, highlighting in its pages issues about various facets and aspects of her life and identity, standing apart in its openness and objective coverage of different ideas and lifestyles.
